The Art of Seeing

The Art of Seeing

March 8 – 29, 2020 – Sacramento CA

The question is not what you look at but what you see.
-David Thoreau

How do you see the world around you? Do you often miss things that others see? Of course, most of us can see in the conventional sense, but most of us don’t ‘see’ in the creative sense because quite simply, we are blind to it. This four-part class will take you on a fun and thoughtful journey of truly “seeing” and make a significant impact on your image making.

Each of the four half-day sessions will be a combination of lecture, visual study and practical application:

  • Introduction to design elements, reference tear sheets and journaling your process
  • Learn to plan and organize your image by applying the design process of: Thinking, Looking, Doing
  • Make images during photo walks utilizing the design elements discussed in each session
  • Study images for visual clues and understanding of the elements that make up the story
  • Review/Critique of your images during the process in order to strengthen your “seeing”
